Hideko Miyazaki: Elden Ring is already the limit of our project's scale, and the new work will be small-scale

FromSoftware's Elden Ring has been praised for its grand open world, but its sheer size has also caused player fatigue. However, FromSoftware President Hideko Miyazaki believes that Elden Ring has reached its project size limit.

In an interview with The Guardian, Miyazaki said Elden Ring marked a turning point for FromSoftware, citing the upcoming Armored Core 6 as an example of how the company is trying to break out of the comfort zone of soul games.

"Given FromSoftware's current scale, Elden Ring has really reached its limit. We have invested all available resources and talent... I would be concerned if it were to expand further," Miyazaki said.

So where does FromSoftware go after Elden Ring? Miyazaki Hideko wants promising young developers within the company to take on leadership roles.

"Maybe the next step is to have multiple projects running at the same time, giving other talented young people the opportunity to manage and direct smaller projects," he said.
